Gary L. Trujillo

Founder, President, & CEO

Gary is the Founder, President & CEO of Southwest Harvard Group, which he formed in 1990 after graduating from Harvard Business School. Gary has served as the firm’s President & CEO since inception. SHG has a proven track record of creating and investing in businesses for growth and profitability.

Gary has been a serial entrepreneur for nearly 40 years with significant experience as a financier, founder, CEO, and corporate board member. Gary has three decades of board experience, including serving on three publicly traded company boards and serving as Chairman of the Board for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arizona. 

Gary is also recognized nationally as a dedicated community leader, having co-founded the Be A Leader Foundation (BALF) in 2002, an education-focused nonprofit serving more than 14,000 students per year, with his wife, Melissa B. Trujillo.

Gary received his undergraduate degree at Arizona State University and his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degree from Harvard Business School.

Michael J. Trejo

Partner

Michael, a Partner at Southwest Harvard Group. Michael also serves as President & CEO of Standard Printing Company, one of the Group’s portfolio companies. 

Prior to joining the firm, Michael spent nine years at BofA Securities in New York, ultimately becoming a Director and senior investment banker. After beginning his career in Global Commercial Real Estate Investment Banking, Michael joined the Global Natural Resources Investment Banking team and focused on utilities, renewables and clean technology companies. Over this time period, Michael announced or completed eleven M&A transactions with a combined transaction value of $40 billion and helped raise more than $8 billion in capital across more than fifteen debt and equity transactions, including five initial public offerings.

Michael is a highly committed to community involvement and currently serves on the board of the Be A Leader Foundation. In addition, Michael has received several honors including the National Hispanic Merit Scholarship, Robert L. Pastor Student Award, Toigo Fellowship, and the Dubin Fellowship for Emerging Leaders at Harvard Kennedy School. In addition, he was recognized as part of the Barrett Honors College’s “25 Alumni to Watch” and was named one of the 27 Most Impressive Students at Harvard Business School by the Business Insider in 2013.

Michael received his undergraduate degree at Arizona State University, his Master’s in Public Policy (MPP) degree from Harvard Kennedy School and his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degree from Harvard Business School.
